Havelock Island is the largest of the islands that comprise a chain of islands to the east of Great Andaman in the Andaman Islands. Havelock Island offers one of Asia’s best beaches, famous for its swimming elephants and unbeatable reef. It is a picturesque natural paradise with beautiful white sandy beaches, rich coral reefs and lush green forest. It is one of the populated islands in the Andaman group with an area of 113 sq. km.

Attractions & Activities

Beach-combing, sunbathing, scuba diving, seawalk, snorkeling, watersports, surf riding, swimming, game fishing, watching the sunset or sunrise, elephant ride, bird-watching, trekking, sailing, kayaking and many more.

How to get in 

Havelock Island is lying 42 kms northeast of the capital city, Port Blair. There are regular boat services by the Directorate of Shipping Services which connect Phoenix Bay jetty in Port Blair to Havelock daily. At havelock auto rickshaws, taxis, buses, motorbikes are available for transport within the island. The STS Department has introduced the services of two AC Deluxe bus at Havelock Island for the benefit of tourist and local public.

The Civil Aviation Dept. of A& N Administration operates regular helicopter services from Port Blair airport to Havelock.

Best time to visit

Despite having their rainy season from May to September, the Andaman Islands experience mild winters and hot summers, making it an almost year-round destination to visit. From October to February, you can enjoy temperatures from 30-35 degree Celsius, the ideal months to enjoy the idyllic beaches and water sports.
